As Dr Muscat welcomed the seven candidates vying for the two deputy leadership posts, he also announced Dr Abela's presence at the conference. As the Labour delegates present greeted Dr Abela with an applause, Dr Muscat invited him on stage. After embracing each other, the two turned to salute the audience. At the really, Dr Muscat immediately made it clear that he wanted Dr Abela to have a central role within the party -- "George Abela's role in the party is not over... It is yet to start."
