Kenwood makes great "music devices," according to the Grapedonk, but he's not sure about the wine. We're not sure they're even related, but stranger things have happened. We're looking at you, Firestone. Our Grapedonk said, "Its kinda like you took your refrigerator, shook it, and squirted out what came out of it into a cup." Or maybe like going to Kenwood and drinking out of their spitter. It's a busy wine, but it's actually not bad once it's farted out for 30 minutes or so. For under $6, it's a helluva deal.We paid $5.99. http://froogle.google.com/froogle_url?q= http://www.winoworld.com/Merch nt2/merchant.mvc%3FScreen%3DPROD%26Store_Code%3DW%26Product_Code%3DO-CAREDKENWOOD%26Product_Count%3D%26Category_Code%3DRED&fr=ADxaS0svHuA9gZG9y7S7a67PQ9RWEsOYjEtV41TkCZskAAAAAAAAAAA&gl=us&hl=en
This winery offers not only excellent table wines, but clever niche products. Two which our attemtion were Hot Ice, an ice wine which has a Wasabi spiciness to it is used as a perfect match to sushi or sashimi. Verjus is a wine based salad dressing substitute which was hss been used from the 1500's. It tastes great on it's own as an apperitif. This is a composite edit over several years. .
I learned this French drinking song at school from my French teacher, many years ago. It is best sung with a group of people - even if they only join in the "Oui, oui, oui" and "Non, non, non" - especially if everyone's had a few drinks. For those who have forgotten the French they learned at school, hang around and you'll hear my English translation.

Some of Australia's most popular wines are produced in Margaret River with well known brands such as Amberley Estate, Brookland Valley Vineyard, Brookwood Estate, Cape Mentelle Vineyards, Clairault Wines, Cullen Wines, Driftwood Estate, Evans & Tate, Howard Park Wines, Leeuwin Estate Winery, Madfish Wines, Moss Brothers, Palandri Wines, Sandalford Wines, Voyager Estate and Xanadu Wines.Owned and operated by Jenny Spencer and Gary Cream, Vat 107 is a unique establishment bringing a little of the city to the country. Vat 107 has stylish decor, polished floorboards and marble bars ooze style and city slick. Chef Jamie Farrer, who has been with the Vat since its opening in April 1999, designs his menus with an extensive and intelligent knowledge of local produce. Jamie is a great advocate of local foods and uses fresh seasonal produce from around the south-west region. While Benjamin was there Jamie cooked, flame grilled Western Australian marron with a Greek salad, tempura oysters with sweet soy dipping sauce and twice cooked duck with Chinese pancakes.Apart from producing some of Australia's best wines and fabulous dining, Margaret River is also known for its surf with beaches near the mouth of the river famous for their large waves. Welcome back to ThatFOODandWINEshow. This episode focuses on Cabernet Sauvignon from the Stags Leap District, a sub-appellation of Napa Valley, California. Cabernet Sauvignon remains California's most popular wine varietal and therefore, its most important grape. California Cabs are typically big, bold, tannic table wines that are best paired with rich dishes such as steak. Of course, this may not always be the case when taking into account such variables as where the fruit comes from, vintage, winemaker crafting, etc. Today's episode showcases one wine from the Stags Leap District. Stags Leap acquired its reputation in 1976 when a Stags Leap Cabernet, judged blind by a French panel in France bested all of its competition. Since then, California wines have been considered world-class.The featured wine on today's show was Alterra Winemaker's Reserve Stags Leap Cabernet - 2006 vintage. This wine was elegant in style with flavors of currant, plum and raisin nicely integrated with hints of cedar and tobacco. Mild in acidity, tannic structure and sweetness, this wine does not require the assistance of a big steak to be enjoyed. I scored this wine 84 points -- however it was not disappointing. Stags Leap cabernets are typically more costly than what I found this one for ($20.00 US) so if you can find a good bargain, its worth the investment to see if its your cup of tea.We hope you enjoy this episode of ThatFOODandWINEshow.
