This week Brad and Danny disagree over a wine variety. Brad looks at a New Zealand wine that's incredibly popular, but Danny isn't won over. However there are no arguments when it comes to the two reds we recommend. There's a recently released cabernet sauvignon from Penfolds and a cellar release from Jacobs Creek, both of which are certain to hit the mark.
This week we look at three wines perfect for opening up after your main meal is done. The first is a Muscat which is under the vino-lok closure to make sure the wine is at its best. The next is a sweet white made in the style of the great French sauturnes. And it wouldn't be a desert wine special without looking at a brilliant fortified from Rutherglen.
As the end of the financial year is upon us, we thought it timely to present a couple of wines that wont break the budget, but will help you celebrate in style. First is a sparkling white with quality well above it's price. Next we look at a great red blend from the Yarra Valley. Finally we check out an inexpensive shiraz that's both a good bet for cellaring and drinkable right now - what a combo!
Wine week episode 2. Danny and Brad provide a few tips on what might be great wines to grab over the holidays, including a couple of great sparkling choices!
This week we look at a wine which has been called by one reviewer 'the finest inexpensive shiraz I've ever tasted' and see if it lives up to the hype. As well we look at a riesling with a story behind the name. There's also another shiraz which used to be hard to find down under. We also pass on our condolences to those at Drayton Family Wines after the fatal explosion yesterday.
This week we look at three Italian grape varieties in a Wine Week special. The first comes from the white grape arneis. The second may be the best known of the Australian produced Italians in the form of the Chianti grape sangiovese. And the final wine comes from a grape popular not only in Italy, but California as well, zinfandel.
This week we look at a wine which uses a closure that might just signal the end of corks on high end wines... and the wine inside the bottle isn't half bad either! As well we look at a great Shiraz with lovely chocolate characters and a semillon/sauvignon blanc from a region known for producing great versions of the blend.
Another vintage is almost done down under, and another football season is about to begin. With our minds on the footy we look at a great everyday wine with a label that has an unintentional football theme. With vintages in mind we look at a French wine from a great year, and just to prove things aren't always changing, we look at a great value riesling too.
